We manufacture and coat all of our optical elements, in Hudson, New Hampshire, in our 25,000 square foot production facility. We can produce single elements or the most complex IR zoom systems for military and commercial applications. Our operations include electro-optical design; the generation, polishing and coating of lenses; machining operations; assembly and testing. At COI, we work with optical accuracies of one-ten-millionth of an inch on a routine prototype or production basis.

Since 1985 Computer Optics has been supplying large laser quality optical flats. These windows and mirrors are up to 32" in diameter in production and a variety of shapes are possible. We can hold surface quality to 5 Angstroms, Surface figure to 1/20th wave in power and 1/50th of a a wave in astigmatism.

We also work with exotic materials. The secondary solar collector, at right, is made from a large sapphire blank. It features a figured optical input surface, a demanding irregular mechanical shape and faceted optical output flats. This one-of-a-kind part was manufactured by COI for an aerospace client, to specification, and on-time.

Quality coatings are critical to the performance of your optical systems. That's why COI designs and applies our coatings in our own coating lab. We have several chambers for optics from 1/4" up to 32" diameter. COI has coating design capability for your most demanding applications as well as an established library of coatings for your transmissive or reflective needs.
